In collaboration with Hertford Planning Service Architects and Brownstone Building Services, we undertook a comprehensive refurbishment of a spacious detached house. Our objective was to enlarge the property, achieved through a 10mx10m extension to the rear elevation, alongside a complete redesign. Working closely with the client, we selected premium clay plain tiles from Edilian’s Phalempin range to maintain a traditional appearance while staying within budget. Complemented by code 5 lead for the high-level flat roof and Sika Sarnafil membrane for the lower flat roof, we ensured durability and aesthetic cohesion.
The inclusion of a Pyramid-style roof light added a modern touch to the property’s overall look. Through meticulous planning and execution, we delivered a premium refurbishment that seamlessly combined traditional charm with modern functionality, exceeding the client’s expectations.

Contour Roofing (Essex) Limited were tasked with providing roof coverings to the Grade II listed building (1866) that blended in to the beautiful scenic surroundings and views of Mill Hill overlooking London on a complex roof design which consisted of both refurbishment and new build works.
The build required all our working disciplines with the flexibility of the Sika Sarnafil & Liquid Plastics waterproofing systems & quality of the SSQ natural slates proving ideal for the varying & intricate flat & pitched roofing areas. The slating and leadworks to the existing chapel was particularly challenging as it required us to strip back the curved sections and re-instate as new, all of which requires a certain skill set that our fitters and contract managers delivered.
The Gold leafed Statue of St. Joseph on the top is a well-known and loved landmark that is still intact after the refurbishment. The working relationship between Contour Roofing and Berkeley Homes offered 49 Luxury apartments set in 7 acres of mature parkland.
