Isleham U14 Girls Season

Isleham U14 Girls started the season off as double league and cup winners and were hoping to continue their success from the previous two seasons.

They started off with a 9-2 win away to Newmarket with top scorer of the past two seasons, Amy Mclean scoring a hat-trick. The next four games also ended in wins putting them top of the league table.

They then travelled to Yaxley where they suffered their first defeat since the start of season 2014/2015 losing 4-0, this ended a run of more than 50 games unbeaten. The following week they then had to travel to Yaxley once again to face them in the league cup. This was to prove a much closer match, with Isleham losing 4-3 in the dying seconds.

The rest of the season they carried on winning games to continue leading the league table. With three games to go, Isleham met second place Yaxley needing a win to clinch the title for a third successive year. The game was to prove a very tough top of the table clash. Isleham took the lead in the first half only for Yaxley to come back with two quick goals in the 2nd half. As the match was coming to an end, Isleham found a late equaliser to make the score 2-2.

A win against Linton in their final home game of the season would make certain of the title. Isleham achieved this with an impressive 10-1 win, to see them unbeaten at home for three seasons.

Managing Director Jonathan Woods quoted ‘We are all extremely proud of the achievements of Isleham U14 Girls Football Team and everybody involved with making this team a great success, Contour Roofing (Essex) Limited are proud sponsors of Isleham U14 Girls football team and have committed to another season and we wish the players, parents and management all the best for the 2017/2018 season’.
